What a gorgeous day it was for a chalk mural at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Too bad I am sore as all get out from 5.5 hours on the concrete! But it was a successful day at recreating the Joan Miro painting that is in the museums collection titled "The Spanish Playing Cards". Hope you like the pictures of the process!
And now the finished masterpiece! Please note that the image is not as bright as the earlier posts due to the fact it was in the shade when I finished.

This looks like so much fun, Shawn! Did you have a big audience?
Look great, Shawn! And yesterday's weather certainly created an excellent day for art-making outside! Good to know that you had lots of fun.
Chalk drawing is having the best day ever, I think; came home tonight and found this on one of my favorite websites:

Apparently, this guy does this as a paint-by-number thing for the kidlets. Pretty cool! I say you steal the idea and get rich quick ;).
Hope the bones are a little less creaky this evening...
It was a lot of fun Cynthia! Could not have asked for a better day. And yes there was a good crowd. Over the course of the day I think they said they had over a thousand people come through. Not too bad.
Thanks Christina! I definitely had a blast.
The bones are definitely getting better. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to touch my toes again! :) Thanks for the article too about the chalk artist. It is fun to see all of the works that others are creating.
That is so cool, Shawn! I can't even imagine working on such a grand scale... Fun to see you at the zoo, too! Your painting turned out beautifully!
Thanks Nina! It was great seeing you at the zoo as well!
Hey Shawn, Mary Merrick and I are co-chairing Art in Bloom 2009 and hope you can artfully add to our event with the image of Cy DeCosse's White Lotus. It will look awesome I am sure. We would have to figure out how to keep fresh and keep the rain away. I bet kids (and adults!) would love to watch you work. This is so exciting!
